Baptism

We believe that baptism is for the person who has received the saving benefits of Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice and has become His disciple. In obedience to the command of Christ and as a testimony of faith, a believer should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism symbolizes a person’s union with Christ in His death and resurrection. It signifies that the former way of life has been put to death and depicts a release from the bondage of sin. At CBC, we teach and practice believer’s baptism by immersion.

Baptism Class
A baptism class is offered before each baptism celebration time. The class covers the biblical importance of baptism, frequently asked questions, and gives each person the opportunity to share his testimony.

All candidates for baptism must attend one baptism class prior to baptism. Attending a baptism class does not require a person to be baptized if he is not ready. If an individual was baptized as a believer prior to attending CBC, we do not require that individual to be baptized again unless his baptism preceded conversion.

Child Baptism
The baptism of children is treated with special care.

If you want to be baptized, please contact the church office (office@seattlecbc.org) for more details.
